Cabin On Scenic River Bluff

Peaceful quiet sunsets on the bluff are celebrations…from the constantly changing light and weather to the migrating bird songs, I always feel part of nature and all of  the activity. The windows are open more than closed in the summer. Breezes are always blowing and it is cooler on the bluff in the summer than anywhere else in Alabama. The pool is like a cool mountain spring deep in the woods and just as private. The den has the worlds greatest fireplace and keeps the house warm in winter. For the kitchen to be so small I have cooked dinner for larger groups of people here than anywhere else and it just works. Maybe it is the atmosphere.

It is a remarkably private property. You enter through a small subdivision road through a two-acre field that is part of the property. The field has an orchard, blue berries and large sycamore trees. The road turns down through the woods to the double “A Frame” cabin and the view overlooking the Tennessee River and the mountains of the Cumberland Plateau beyond. The land below the cabin belongs to TVA.

The breezes always blow in this unique place and the temperatures are cooler in summer than down below in Scottsboro. It has a new HVAC system but the air is so cool in summer you hate to turn the AC on.

The birds and songs in the spring are remarkable as they pass through on their way north. The shortened days of fall and winter mean fireplace weather and it is a great stone fireplace that will heat the large living space.

The salt-water pool is easy to maintain. It catches the light of the sunset as the sun dips below the Cumberland Plateau. A cottage garden blooms from spring through fall outside the windows of the breakfast room.

The area is unique in the proximity to easy boat launches on the Tennessee River as well as many National Parks and preserves to hike and explore. Chattanooga and Huntsville are each an hour away
